In Mable & The Wood, Your Powers Are Killing The World You Want To Save
Magic is draining the color and life out of the world, and yet you must rely on that same destructive magic to get around the world to help save it in Mable & The Wood.
Playing as a shapeshifting young girl, players need to find the source of magic that is draining the world. She doesn’t have to look much further than herself, as she uses magic to change forms into different beasts in order to get around the world.
That magic is fuelled by killing the creatures of the forest, so excess use means the death of far more woodland creatures. Her powers also come from killing bosses, which are the last animals of their kind in this world. In her efforts to save the world, she is killing the creatures that live within it, effectively committing the same evil she is trying to stop.
Players are able to choose their routes through the game world, tackling paths at will and even avoiding boss fights if possible. There are secrets to be found in old areas, but lingering in any one area increases the amount of damage they do to the environment and animals who live there.
Mable & The Wood is raising development funding on Kickstarter and votes on Steam Greenlight.
