Let’s make some noise with this final trailer for STAR TREK BEYOND!
Depending on your personal preferences, the “let’s make some noise” bit of the headline above could refer to a line uttered by Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk in this latest and final full length trailer for Star Trek Beyond, or will refer to “Sledgehammer”, the new Rihanna track from the film’s soundtrack which features heavily in this preview. If you’re not a fan of the Caribbean pop singer, then might I suggest you turn down the volume and check out this action-packed trailer anyway, because damn it actually looks cool!
And yes, I know this is not the classic Star Trek of old, with all the scientific exploration and philosophical ponderings, but if after two movies in this rebooted franchise you’re still expecting Paramount to deliver on that, then you’re clearly really optimistic. Me, I’m primed to watch all the pew-pew, space explosion goodness.
Check out the trailer below.
“Star Trek Beyond,” the highly anticipated next installment in the globally popular Star Trek franchise, created by Gene Roddenberry and reintroduced by J.J. Abrams in 2009, returns with director Justin Lin (“The Fast and the Furious” franchise) at the helm of this epic voyage of the U.S.S. Enterprise and her intrepid crew. In “Beyond,” the Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.
Star Trek Beyond sees Idris Elba and Sofia Boutella joining the returning cast and is scheduled for release on July 22, 2016. And before you start to worry, yes, Michael Giacchino is actually doing the music score for the actual film and not Rihanna.
PS: On a totally saddening note though, you may have noticed that this trailer has no trace of recently deceased Anton Yelchin. It’s incredibly sad to know that we won’t be getting more Ensign Pavel Chekov from him after this.
