Gibbous – A Point & Click Mixture Of Cthulhu And Bugs Bunny
The Necronomicon falls into an unwitting librarian’s hands, but the results are a bit goofier than they are maddening in Gibbous, a point and click adventure being developed in Transylvania.
After an accident with the book giving his cat the ability to talk, the librarian, Buzz, sets out to find a way to turn her back to normal. Meanwhile, a detective, Don, is trying to retrieve it because it’s what he was hired to do. The player will help all three of these characters by the game’s end.
Gibbous uses traditional animation, tirelessly using 72 drawings per frame to create smooth motion in its characters. The backgrounds are inspired by genuine Transylvanian architecture, as the game is being developed only 40 miles away from Dracula’s birthplace.
The developers of Gibbous realize that, as people play point and click games, they often use incorrect item combinations as they work to solve puzzles. As such, they are striving to create unique dialogue for every possible item combination in the game.
A demo for the game is available from the game’s Kickstarter campaign site. Gibbous also needs votes for its Steam Greenlight campaign.
